Ana Silva

Clinical Lead

Ana is the Clinical Lead for Harmless, providing clinical oversight and leadership to all clinical teams, developing, and implementing clinical policies and procedures.


Before joining Harmless as a research intern looking into the intrapersonal and interpersonal functions of self-harm, Ana completed an MA in Clinical Psychology and worked as a researcher at The Housing First Project in Lisbon, a truly innovative approach to end homelessness within people with a long-term history of homelessness, substance misuse and mental illness. Her findings on the role of perceived housing quality and perceived choice to recovery within this cohort have been published and are often cited in the field of Environmental Psychology.


Since joining Harmless, Ana worked as a suicide bereavement officer, providing emotional and practical support to anyone affected or exposed to suicide loss, and community-wide interventions with groups at risk of suicide clusters. This is an area she is will always be passionate about. Today, splits her time between the role of Clinical Lead, and the role of trauma focused psychotherapist, specialising in top-down and bottom-up evidence based approaches to treating trauma, through the provision of psychological protocols such as trauma stabilisation, cognitive processing therapy and prolonged exposure therapy.
