At Harmless and The Tomorrow Project, we recognise that access to mental health support is not always equal. Research shows that some groups in society face barriers that prevent them from receiving the help that could change – or even save – their lives. That’s why our No One Left Behind commitment is at the heart of everything we do.
Our vision is simple: everyone deserves the chance to live safely, recover and thrive. But making that vision real takes more than good intentions. It requires inclusion – the active, meaningful inclusion that shapes the way we deliver our work.
Inclusion isn’t just something we value; it’s the foundation of effective mental health care. When people feel unseen or excluded, they are less likely to seek support. That’s why we work tirelessly to challenge stigma, promote equality and ensure every person who comes to us feels respected and understood.
To make this happen, we are committed to an ongoing, active outreach programme targeting those who might otherwise be left behind. We don’t wait for people to find us – we go to them. By building trust, breaking down barriers and connecting with individuals who may be excluded from mainstream services, we make sure support is available to those who need it most. For us, inclusion is never passive – it’s action.
Our commitment to equality also extends beyond direct support. We actively share our knowledge and experience through training, helping others better support communities who face health inequalities. For example, our new Gypsy, Roma & Traveller Self Harm and Suicide Prevention course is designed to equip professionals with the skills and understanding needed to work effectively with this often-overlooked group.
No One Left Behind isn’t just a slogan or a policy – it’s a promise. It shapes our culture, our strategy and our everyday practice. Our mission is to ensure mental health support is rooted in compassion, equality, accessibility and community.
At Harmless, we’ll keep striving to ensure that every voice is heard, every story is told and every person has the chance to heal. Because no one should ever be left behind.
