Harmless are thrilled to have been shortlisted as a finalist for the Social Enterprise of the Year at the VAL Awards. 2025 will be Voluntary Action Leicestershire (VAL)’s 60th anniversary of supporting communities across Leicester and Leicestershire, and we are honoured to have been nominated at this year’s event.
Harmless’s clinical teams provide support for those who self harm or have been bereaved by suicide in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Over the past year, our clinical teams have provided over 2800 life-saving sessions to 409 people – a real lifeline for vulnerable people and communities across the region.
Harmless’s clinical services are privileged to be commissioned by the Local Authority and the Integrated Care Board in LLR, but any clinical services that fall outside of these commissioned contracts are funded by income sourced by our Academy at Harmless. Our Academy delivers self harm, suicide crisis, suicide bereavement and mental health training to people and professionals living and working in the area. Within the past year, 227 delegates attended this training, and these delegates went on to support an estimated 5388 people in distress across their communities.
Harmless’s clinical services also collect psychometric data from our clients. This data is anonymised and used for research to influence policy and practice across the country. Our research team works tirelessly to ensure our clients’ voices and experiences are used to inform our evidence-based practice and further our national voice.
We are so proud of our teams for the work that they do, and to be recognised as a finalist for this award means so much to us. Thank you to the VAL team for hosting these awards and for shortlisting us. We’re really looking forward to the awards ceremony in October.
