Life for me before Harmless was so downhill. I was depressed, I was suicidal, I was self harming. I cried all the time, couldn’t sleep, wouldn’t eat… I’m so grateful that Harmless have been here for me. The whole team are absolutely amazing’

Choir for Hope

Harmless is delighted to have launched its innovative new support offer – the Choir for Hope, a supportive space to come together, sing and connect with others. Sessions are led by experienced choirmaster Kari Olsen-Porthouse, alongside the compassionate Harmless team.

The choir is now running fortnightly on Tuesdays 2–3:30pm at East Leake Pavilion, Costock Road, East Leake, Loughborough LE12 6LY.

Upcoming dates:
14 April • 28 April • 5 May • 19 May • 2 June • 16 June • 30 June • 14 July 2026

But this isn’t just a choir – it’s a space for understanding, creativity, healing and community. We warmly welcome anyone with lived experience of mental distress, including those who have:

  • Experienced suicidal thoughts or crisis (including self harm)
  • Supported a loved one through a mental health crisis
  • Been bereaved by suicide

No singing experience is needed. There are no auditions, no pressure and no expectation to perform – just a relaxed, non-judgemental environment focused on wellbeing, connection and shared experience.

What you can expect:

  • A low-pressure, friendly atmosphere where you can go at your own pace
  • Support from Harmless staff at every session if you need it
  • A chance to build confidence, connection and community over time
  • Opportunities to experience the positive impact of singing together

We understand that joining something new can feel daunting, so you’ll always be met with warmth, patience and support. You can join at any time, even if you’ve missed previous sessions.
