Open Casting Call: Unseen Realities

PROJECT TITLE: Unseen Realities (Short Film Series)
LOCATION: Nottingham & Surrounding Areas
ROLES: Young People (Playing age 11–21)

The Project
Harmless is casting for Unseen Realities, a series of cinematic, high-end short films (2 mins each) exploring the internal worlds of young people navigating mental health challenges, neurodiversity and identity. These films are ‘visual poems’ – with minimal dialogue and a focus on atmosphere, lighting and authentic emotion.

Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a truly diverse range of faces, abilities, and backgrounds. No prior professional acting experience is required – we are looking for authenticity. We especially encourage applications from:

  • Global Majority/BIPOC actors.
  • Neurodivergent individuals (specifically for our ‘Autism’ and ‘Sensory Sensitivity’ scripts).
  • LGBTQIA+ youth.
  • Young people with unique ‘lived experience’ who feel they can bring truth to these roles.

How to Apply
Please send a short intro (Name / Age / Location) and a 30-second video clip using the prompt below.

The ’30-Second Clip’ Prompt
We do not want a monologue. We want to see you ‘think’ on camera.

The Task
Sit in a quiet space. Imagine you are in a crowded room where you feel completely misunderstood. You want to leave, but you have to stay. Show us that internal conflict using only your eyes and subtle shifts in your breathing. No words.

The Offer (Voluntary but High-Value)
In exchange for your time and talent, we are providing a Professional Actor Asset Package. This includes:

  1. The Full Film: The complete, high-definition edited film for your portfolio/showreel.
  2. Professional Stills: High-standard, colour-graded production stills suitable for your Spotlight profile or portfolio.
