Join Our Choir for Hope – Starts Tuesday 27th January

Harmless is launching a brand-new support offer – and we’d love for you to be part of it! We’ve created a Choir for Hope, a unique opportunity to come together, sing and connect under the expert guidance of renowned choirmaster Kari Olsen-Porthouse from The Liberty Singers, alongside our own experienced and compassionate team.

We are please to confirm that the choir will run on a fortnightly basis beginning on Tuesday 27th January 2026 2pm–3.30pm in East Leake.

But this isn’t just a choir – it’s a space for understanding, healing and community. We warmly welcome anyone with lived experience of mental distress, including those who have:

  • Experienced suicidal thoughts or crisis (including self harm)
  • Supported a loved one through a mental health crisis
  • Been bereaved by suicide

And the best part? You absolutely DO NOT need to be able to sing! Our Choir for Hope is a non-judgemental, daytime space focused on wellbeing, connection and shared experience. You’ll be supported by the Harmless team throughout, and we’ll also be exploring the positive impact singing together can have on wellbeing as part of our ongoing research.

What to Expect

  • A Low-Pressure Atmosphere
No auditions, no solos, and no need to read music. This is a space to breathe and just be.

  • Professional Support
While the focus is on fun and singing, Harmless staff will be present at every session to offer a listening ear and emotional support if you need it.

  • A Warm Welcome
We know that building confidence and a sense of community takes time. You don’t have to rush; you will be met with patience, warmth, and acceptance from the moment you walk in.

  • A Diverse Community
You’ll be singing alongside a broad range of people with different stories, all united by a desire to find their voice.

Stepping into the Choir for Hope
We understand that joining a new group can feel daunting, especially when you are navigating difficult times. We want you to know that the Hope Choir is a low-pressure environment. There is no expectation of perfection here – just a diverse group of people coming together to lift their spirits.

We know that building confidence and a true sense of community doesn’t happen overnight; it takes time. That is why our priority is ensuring you are met with genuine warmth and support from your very first session. This is a safe space: Harmless staff will always be on hand during rehearsals to provide emotional support or a quiet moment if you need it. Come as you are, and take it at your own pace.

The choir will meet on a fortnightly basis from Tuesday 27th January 2pm–3.30pm at East Leake Pavilion, Costock Road, East Leake, Loughborough LE12 6LY.
