Skills for All: Open Access Learning for Everyone
Our Open Access programme is available to everyone, everywhere. Whether you’re a clinical professional or someone with no mental health background, our training is designed to equip you with the skills and compassion to respond effectively when it matters most. Open Access courses cover a range of mental health topics and many are scheduled around key awareness days and dates of significance.
Delivered live online via Zoom or MS Teams, each session is led by an expert Training & Education Officer who will guide you through discussions, quizzes and videos for an engaging and rewarding learning experience.

The training covers menopause stages, physiological changes and the role of hormones in brain function and mental well-being. Participants also learn to identify risk factors, address stigma and misinformation, communicate sensitively about menopause, and apply evidence-based treatments and holistic approaches. On completion, delegates will have gained the confidence to provide accurate information, dispel myths, and advocate for improved understanding and support.

The course also covers the impact of trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), the links between self harm, mental health and suicide, and how to adapt approaches for children, young people and adults.

Participants also learn about the stigma and shame often associated with suicide, the increased risk for those bereaved and practical ways to provide support. The training covers best practice guidance, postvention strategies and insights from local service The Tomorrow Project. On completion, learners receive supporting resources and a certificate, recognising their enhanced understanding and ability to support those affected by suicide bereavement.
