This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to our dedication to prioritising the wellbeing of our staff. At Harmless, we understand that our employees are our most valuable asset, and their wellbeing is fundamental to our success, especially given the demanding nature of our work in suicide prevention. We have made significant strides in creating a workplace culture that values mental health, emotional support and a healthy work-life balance.

Our comprehensive wellbeing strategy includes initiatives such as:

  • Access to therapy: We provide all staff members with access to confidential therapy sessions, recognising the importance of professional support for maintaining mental wellbeing.

  • Regular supervision and reflective practice: All staff members receive regular supervision and engage in reflective practice, providing a safe space to process experiences and develop coping mechanisms, which are particularly crucial in managing vicarious trauma.

  • Progressive HR processes: We have implemented progressive HR processes, including a standard 4-day working week, demonstrating our commitment to work-life balance and employee wellbeing.

  • Flexible working arrangements: We offer flexible working arrangements to accommodate individual needs and promote a healthy integration of work and personal life.

  • Defusion processes: We have established defusion processes for all staff members who experience a traumatic encounter, ensuring immediate support and access to resources for managing emotional distress.

We are incredibly proud of our team’s unwavering commitment to supporting individuals and families affected by suicide. This shortlisting for the Great British Workplace Wellbeing Awards is a fantastic recognition of their hard work and our dedication to creating a workplace where they feel valued, supported, and empowered.
