I ended up coming here because my partner died by suicide. I got a call from Harmless within a few days of it happening asking me to come in to be assessed. I feel I can say whatever I want to and not be judged… Every time I come, I always leave feeling better

Experiencing Suicide Bereavement

Experiencing bereavement by suicide can be a very overwhelming, traumatic and confusing time. Whether you know a person well or barely at all, the impact can have a profound effect on anyone.
Often people bereaved by suicide experience the emotions of grief more acutely than with other types of bereavement and it often leaves many unanswered questions which can be hard to cope with. Whether you are a close family member or friend of the person who dies, you may feel a complex mixture of emotions, such as anger and guilt, which can leave you feeling lost.
Even if you did not know the person who died well, you may have been involved in the death or are able to identify with that person’s experience, which can have an impact on you.
There is still a lot of stigma in our society associated with suicide and this can leave you feeling isolated.
Sometimes, bereavement by suicide causes people to feel suicidal themselves.
If you have been affected by a bereavement by suicide, The Tomorrow Project is here to support you, no matter how big or small you feel your problems are. Click here to make a referral.
