What You Can Expect From Us
What Does It Do?
Provides immediate emotional and practical support, resources, inquest support, ongoing monitoring and interventions to address the unique needs of those bereaved by suicide.
Where Does It Operate?
Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Bassetlaw, Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland, Derby and Derbyshire.
How To Access It
The service accepts both professional and self-referrals. The service also has an automated referrals system with the relevant police force.
What To Expect
Bio-psychosocial assessment within 5 days, intervention within 20 working days. Immediate support within 72 hours, one-to-one sessions (face-to-face or remote), tailored emotional and practical support. 6 sessions provided, with up-to 12 available following review.
Evidence Base
Assertive outreach and comprehensive support are crucial for suicide prevention and addressing the complex needs of those bereaved by suicide.
Confidentiality
Anything you tell us will always be treated in the strictest confidence, unless we have concerns about the immediate safety of yourself or anyone else. In these instances, we may need to involve other people and / or services. If this becomes necessary, we will always try to talk to you about this first.
Exclusions
We will NOT be able to offer support if…
- You are unable to abstain from alcohol or substances during sessions.
- You have a history of violence (assessed on a case-by-case basis).
