My clinician makes me feel so comfortable in talking about my issues, even when I'm anxious… It doesn't ever feel like it's a box-ticking session like previous support I used to get.

What You Can Expect From Us

Who Is It For?

The suicide crisis pathway at The Tomorrow Project is for individuals of all ages residing in Nottingham or Nottinghamshire who are experiencing a suicide crisis. A suicide crisis is a time-limited state of intense emotional distress where suicide feels like the only option. This includes individuals who:

  • Have been thinking about acting on their thoughts of suicide.
  • Express intent to die and believe suicide is the answer.
  • Feel overwhelmed by their distress and unable to cope.
  • May have elevated risk factors such as recent loss, isolation, self harm, substance misuse or mental health conditions.

Our suicide crisis service provides rapid support inspired by the CAMS (Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality) framework to address the underlying causes of suicidal thoughts and behaviours. We will work with our clients to understand what is driving their thoughts of suicide, and we will address these in a collaborative and empowering way, that increases levels of hope and resilience.

Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and Bassetlaw.

Bio-psychosocial assessment within 3 days, intervention as soon as possible afterwards. 6 sessions of weekly support (can sometimes be increased to 12 where clinically necessary).

Solid evidence for CAMS effectiveness in reducing distress, suicidal thoughts, hopelessness and A&E visits.

Anything you tell us will always be treated in the strictest confidence, unless we have concerns about the immediate safety of yourself or anyone else. In these instances, we may need to involve other people and / or services. If this becomes necessary, we will always try to talk to you about this first.

We will NOT be able to offer support if…

  • You are not presenting within an active suicide crisis.
  • You are engaging with secondary care mental health services
(e.g.: a Local Mental Health Team, an NHS Crisis Team, CAMHS, psychiatry).
  • You are engaging in other mental health support (e.g.: a therapist).
  • You are unable to abstain from alcohol or substances during sessions.
  • You are living outside of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, or Bassetlaw.
  • Clients with a history of violence are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
