We are aware of the recent reports involving self harm that have been widely shared across the media and social media. We recognise that many people in our community may have seen this content or the discussions surrounding it, and that it may be upsetting, distressing, or triggering.
At Harmless, we encourage responsible and safe conversations about self harm. Whilst open discussions can help reduce stigma, sharing incidents of self harm in live or highly public settings can have an unintended impact on others, particularly those who may be struggling themselves. It is important that conversations about self harm are approached with care, compassion, and a focus on recovery and support.
It is okay to step away from social media, mute or avoid distressing content, and take time to look after your wellbeing. Reaching out to someone you trust or accessing support can make a real difference.
If you are struggling with self harm, or are supporting someone who is, please remember that you do not have to face it alone. Harmless provides free, specialist support, information, training and resources for people affected by self harm, as well as for families, friends, carers, and professionals.
If you need support, please reach out to Harmless. Please continue to look after yourselves and one another with kindness.
